Crockpots are perfect for cooking soup and this corn potato chowder recipe is one of my favorites. It’s perfect for a cold fall day and makes for a hardy meal. I like to serve it with a nice loaf of homemade bread and a slice of pie for dessert. This works out great for us on a busy weekday. I just start both the crockpot and the breadmaker in the morning, and then just go about my busy day. By the time we all finally make it back home and hungrily gather around the dinner table the food is ready and waiting for us. This crockpot recipe is fast and easy to put together and there isn’t much cleanup either since everything come out of cans. It’s a great go to pantry meal. I usually have the various canned items waiting for me in my pantry and smoked sausage like kielbasa is something I almost always have on hand. It’s great to flavor just about any type of soup. I’ve also made this soup with leftover holiday ham before and it turned out great as well. We do prefer it with the sausage though since it lends the soup a nice smoky flavor.
